The Squamish Community Foundation (SCF) exists to provide a vehicle by which people can support their community in perpetuity. The annual earnings of endowed assets are available to the people of the District of Squamish, to be distributed, in the form of GRANTS, to support projects that will enrich the quality of life in the community.
Since 2003, over $200,000.00 has been returned to our community.
Applications are accepted each year in April and May with May 31st being the deadline for consideration. Grant applications are then reviewed by our Grant committee which is made up of individuals from the community. The Grant committee makes their recommendations to the Board of Directors.
In 2016 the Grant Committee is co-chaired by Aimee Mahnger and Kate Brandon.
Projects should contribute to the well being of District of Squamish residents in an area such as:
- Health and Social Development
- Recreation and Sports
- Arts, Culture and Heritage
- Children, Youth and Families
- Community Enhancement
NOTE: In 2017 the Squamish Community Foundation will launch a Neighbourood Small Grants program with the help of the Vancouver Foundtion (who pioneered the program). The Small Grants program is aimed at groups who DO NOT have a CRA registered tax number but have an idea that will support their neighbourhood and bring it together. More details will be available in early 2017.
