Ian Davis is a father of 5 and has lived and worked in the Sea to Sky Corridor since 1989. A native of Montreal, Quebec, he did most of his post secondary education in Ontario before leaving the east to article for law in Vancouver. Following his call to the bar, he joined the law firm of Race and Company, where he continues to practice personal and small business oriented law.
Ian has done some youth coaching in soccer and football and was scout leader and member of the executive for the local scouts group. He was a long time member of the board of directors for the Whistler Chamber of Commerce and served 6 years on the executive, including a term as Chair of the Board. He also served as a director of the Whistler WorkerÕs Cup Society, a safety net organization for workers.
Currently, Ian is a member of the board for the Team Squamish Cycling Association, and Rotarian. He is the president elect to serve as president in the July 09 to June 10 Rotary year. Through his family and Rotary, he has a close connection with the Emmanuel Boyz Rescue Center in Nairobi, Kenya and has visited and supported the CenterÕs efforts in housing and educating street boys.
Although Ian enjoys many outdoor activities, especially family activities, his hobby is in restoring and building small wooden boats, although progress is admittedly difficult to monitor.
